Food on Kilimanjaro are always improving and we always have new menus being introduced accordingly and you can request any type of menu if you have special requirements, before a climb

Kilimanjaro food as we’ve already mentioned, staying hydrated and well-fed on your climb is absolutely vital, especially when conditions are such that you might not want to eat or drink as much as you should.

As a special reward after your summit ascent, we’ll have an “All Day English Breakfast” ready and waiting for you when you arrive back at Base Camp – just let our cook know how you like your eggs done! And before you leave the mountain, you also get to sample some of the local Tanzanian cuisine such as Njegere and Machalari or banana stew.

Karibu Adventure recommend you bring some of your own trail snacks to eat, especially for your summit night. Bring some supplementary “comfort” foods, such as candy, gum, chocolate, health bars or powdered energy drinks. Food on Kilimanjaro we can organize vegetarian and vegan meals and for those with special diets, please contact us to discuss what we can or cannot do for you.

Kindly note that food selection is limited in Tanzania, so although we will try to please all clients, in some cases clients will be asked to bring their specific food items to us, which our cooks will prepare.

What do you drink on the mountain?

During your climb all drinking water is collected by our porters from streams that are fed from glaciers high on Kilimanjaro

Is Kilimanjaro water safe?

Do we need to purify our own water while trekking the Kilimanjaro? You should drink bottled water while you are in Tanzania, but during the climb, your Mt.Kilimanjaro climbing staff will provide you with plenty of purified drinking water. You do not need to bring filtering systems or purification tablets.

How much water do you drink on Kilimanjaro?

Best Practices for Staying Hydrated on Kilimanjaro. Karibu Adventure recommends a daily intake of 4 liters of water per day. Our gear list includes a water bladder, such as a 3-liter Camelback or Platypus, and a water bottle, such as a 32 oz.
 

Can you drink Alcohol on Kilimanjaro?

 
Drinking at high altitudes does, however, exaggerate and enhance the dehydration many feel when they increase their elevation. This can affect one’s physical and cognitive well-being, which may cause him or her to be unable to safely operate a vehicle.
 

Can you wash on Kilimanjaro?

How will I wash when on Mount Kilimanjaro? There are no showers on Kilimanjaro. Therefore, it’s best to really scrub yourself in the last shower you take before your climb begins. Hygiene on Kilimanjaro is limited to water and any sort of wipes or cloths that you bring. Karibu Adventure provide water for washing daily hot one in the basin.
 

Is Kilimanjaro water safe?

Water is collected from mountain streams and treated with water guard water purification tablets. Water is provided only at the campsites so you need to carry enough water, usually about 3 liters, to stay hydrated while you hike.
