Hotel in Kilimanjaro, Moshi is a small Tanzania town, has just under 200,000 inhabitants, many of which are from the Chagga and Pare tribes. We using two hotels Keys and Stella Maris

Due to Moshi close proximity to Kilimanjaro, many trekkers use the town as their base before hiking the mountain.

A non-profit hotel in Kilimanjaro dedicated on fundraising of Stella Maris School. All room is in suite with private balcony view of Mount Kilimanjaro, air conditioning and satellite TVs and Wi-Fi internet

Keys Hotels Limited – Uru Road is a modern tourist hotel situated along Uru Road. The hotel is located in an area where you can easily see the snow of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Kaliwa Lodge

Best Hotels in Moshi & Arusha – By far the best hotel in Moshi. Run by a German proprietor, the service is excellent, the rooms clean and very comfortable and the food very tasty. The views of Kili from the terrace are amazing. Kaliwa Lodge provides an unforgettable stay in Moshi.

Costs: Room prices with breakfast included range from $80 for a single to $160 for a double.

Ideal for: Travellers looking for comfort, great service and incredible photographic views of Kilimanjaro

Main selling factor: Beautiful setting near Machame gate, very quiet as it is set away from Moshi town, amazing views of the forest and Mountain from the terrace. All-round nice little touches

Comfort Options

Parkview Inn Moshi

A very respectable hotel, on par with a standard low-medium priced Western hotel. Conveniently located in Moshi town, but not too loud. Great service and fantastic view of Mount Kilimanjaro from the rooftop, where guests can relax and have drinks!

Costs: Room prices with breakfast included range from $80 for a standard twin / double to $130 for an deluxe double.

Ideal for: The average traveller who is accustomed to Western standards. Great for families.

Main selling factor: Nice swimming pool. Western standard hotel with good breakfast. Friendly and professional service. Wifi in public areas

Other Good Comfort Options

  • Keys Hotel Moshi: Popular trekking hotel. Basic but pleasant. ~$60-$80 a night
  • Mount Kilimanjaro View Lodge: As the name suggests, expect great views! ~$70-$80 a night
  • Nyumbani Hotel: Very central. Clean and comfortable. ~$80-$90 a night
  • San Salinero Hotel: A little pricey compared to alternatives. Nice lodges. Great pool area! ~$120-$150 a night

Budget Options

Hartebeest View Lodge

Very basic hotel, about one hour from Kilimanjaro International Airport, and 5 minutes walk from Moshi town. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly.

Costs: Room prices with breakfast included range from $30 for a standard twin / double to $50 for a double.

Ideal for: Backpackers on a budget or travellers who expect no frills!

Main selling factor: On clear days Mount Kilimanjaro can be seen from the hotel. Some rooms have mosquito nets (request a room with nets). For a small fee they will collect you from the airport.

Osy Grand Hotel

Okay, ‘Grand’ is a little optimistic! This hotel is very basic, but well located in Moshi town and affordable for the position.

Costs: Room prices with breakfast included range from $35 for a standard twin to $55 for an executive double.

Ideal for: If you are not too picky and used to travelling on a budget in Africa or Asia, then this hotel will be fine for you.

Main selling factor: Good location in a pretty safe part of Moshi. Friendly staff. Affordable.

Drawbacks: Cash only. No elevator so if you are on the higher floors it’s a bit of a trek! Decor is eye-sore.

Other Budget Options

  • Rafiki Backpackers: Great little hostel on the outskirts of Moshi. 6 Rooms. From $20 a night for a single room to $12 per night for a dorm room
  • The Hibiscus Bed and Breakfast: Basic but super cheap. ~$30 a night
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris Lodge: Central and cheap. ~$40-$50 a night
  • Leopard Hotel: Very central. Basic but pretty good. ~$60 a night

Kibo Palace Hotel

Best Hotels – Fantastic hotel, located in the centre of Arusha. Includes great rooms, poolside bar, fitness centre, spa, awesome restaurant and all-area Wifi access. Known for great service.

Costs: Room prices with breakfast included range from $150 to $200, excluding hotel tax.

Ideal for: Travellers looking for a central location that provides the best quality and service for an affordable price.

Main selling factor: Position and amenities, which are all 5-Star quality.

The Arusha Hotel

The Arusha Hotel

Best hotels – in Arusha. Includes all the amenities that you would expect from a 5-Star hotel. It’s claim to fame is being the oldest hotel in the region – founded in 1894!

Costs: Room prices with breakfast included range from $180 for a superior room to $230 for a executive deluxe and $350 upwards for a suite, excluding hotel tax.

Ideal for: The discerning traveller!

Main selling factor: Real old school colonial feel. Fantastic service and brilliant amenities. Can’t knock this hotel, but it comes at a price.

  • Mount Meru Hotel: Everything you would expect from a top hotel. ~$150-$200 a night
  • The African Tulip: Super nice hotel. If budget is not a problem then book here. ~$150-$200 a night
  • Kili Villa Guest House: Our favourite guest house in the region. Proper luxury but it comes at a price. $550 a night
  • Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp Hotel: A good hour away from Arusha on Lake Manyara. Really great safari spot. $180 a night

Comfort Options.

Christina House

Total peace, harmony and authenticity is found At Christina house. A short drive outside of Arusha, the guest house offers 10 lovely rooms and great service for an unbeatable price. If you can secure a booking, then book immediately.

Ideal for: The discerning traveller looking for an authentically quaint African experience, at a bargain!

Main selling factor: Small and quiet. Beautiful jungle scenery around the guesthouse. Great local cuisine

Planet Lodge

A little way outside of Arusha, at Planet Lodge offers great accommodation lodges set in a beautiful garden. Fantastic bar, swimming pool and restaurant. The service is excellent!

Ideal for: Great for families and couples alike.

Main selling factor: Swimming pool and large gardens are a treat. Service is excellent and lodges very comfortable.

Palace Hotel

Western standard quality at a very affordable price. You can expect all the bells and whistles that come with a good 4-Star hotel. Rooms are very modern and amenities varied (spa, fitness centre, good restaurant, Wifi in the rooms). Located centrally.

Costs: Room prices with breakfast included range from $135 for a standard room to $160 for a superior room and $200 for a deluxe.

Ideal for: Travellers accustomed to Western comforts, or for people who want to be based centrally

Main selling factor: Spa and gym. Wifi in all rooms. Modern rooms. Very central.
