Itinerary:

Early Morning Departure: You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Moshi (or Arusha, if preferred) early in the morning. After a short briefing and gear check, we drive you to the Marangu Gate, where your journey begins. The Marangu Route is one of the most popular routes for trekkers due to its gradual ascent and established infrastructure.
Start of the Trek: From the Marangu Gate (1,860 meters), we begin the ascent through lush rainforest. This part of the trek is known for its stunning greenery, rich vegetation, and the sounds of the vibrant wildlife. The forest is home to diverse plant species, birds, and the occasional monkey. This section is relatively moderate in terms of difficulty, providing an enjoyable and scenic experience.
Arrival at Mandara Hut: After approximately 3 to 4 hours of hiking, we reach Mandara Hut at an altitude of about 2,700 meters. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to rest, enjoy a packed lunch, and explore the surroundings. Mandara Hut offers incredible panoramic views of the Kilimanjaro forest and is a popular stopping point for those trekking to higher altitudes.
Exploring Mandara Hut: Once at the hut, feel free to take a short walk around the area. You might also choose to explore a nearby cave, which is a historical feature of the Marangu Route. Our guides will share interesting facts about Kilimanjaro’s history, flora, fauna, and culture.
Descent Back to Marangu Gate: After spending some time at Mandara Hut, we begin our descent back to the Marangu Gate. The downhill hike typically takes about 2 to 3 hours, depending on your pace. The views continue to impress as you pass through the dense forest, descending toward the gate.
Return to Your Hotel: Once we reach the Marangu Gate, our transport will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, where you’ll arrive in the late afternoon or early evening.
