Ol Doinyo Lengai, meaning “Mountain of God” in Maasai language, is one of the most unique and spiritual volcanoes in the world. Located in the Great Rift Valley near Lake Natron in northern Tanzania, this active volcano offers one of the most challenging and rewarding climbs in East Africa.

Itinerary (2 Days Option)
Day 1: Arrival at Lake Natron
Arrive at Lake Natron and meet your guide. Enjoy dinner and prepare for the night climb. Rest before starting the ascent around midnight.
Night Climb: Summit Attempt
Begin your climb at midnight. The trail is steep and demanding, but the cooler night temperatures make it more manageable. Reach the summit at sunrise and enjoy breathtaking views of the Rift Valley and Lake Natron.
Day 2: Descent & Return
After spending time at the summit, descend carefully back to base and continue your journey or transfer to your next destination.
What to Bring
- Strong hiking boots
- Warm jacket (very cold at summit)
- Headlamp/torch
- Gloves (for steep ash slopes)
- Water (at least 2–3 liters)
- Snacks/energy bars
- Camera

- This is a physically demanding climb
