Karibu Adventure Terms & Conditions

Karibu Adventure is a registered company under the laws of Tanzania and accepts your bookings under the following terms and conditions.


1. Deposit & Payment

To secure your booking:

  • Trekking & Camping Safaris: 10% deposit required.
  • Lodges/Hotels: 50% deposit required as per company policy.

Payments can be made via bank transfer or online payment using Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Final payment is due 30 days prior to the tour, or in cash (USD) upon arrival. Note: US dollar notes printed prior to 2001 are not accepted in Tanzania.

Bank Charges: All bank fees are the responsibility of the client, including fees from your bank or intermediary banks (typically $35–$50).

Online Payment: A small bank fee may apply. The invoice total represents the actual amount charged to the card.


2. Booking

  • Bookings and contracts are deemed concluded in Moshi, Tanzania, and governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
  • Karibu Adventure reserves the right to decline any booking without providing reasons.
  • Pre-trip information, complete itineraries, and traveler advice will be provided via email or directly from our offices.
  • If a particular accommodation is unavailable, a similar or higher standard will be substituted.

3. Booking Amendments

For changes to an existing booking (dates, flights, accommodations, number of participants, etc.), a handling fee of USD 70 per booking applies, in addition to any fees charged by service providers.


4. Cancellations

  • Written notification of cancellation is required.
  • Cancellation fees are applied as follows:

If Karibu Adventure cancels a trip due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather, pandemics), an alternative trip of similar standard will be offered, or a full refund will be provided. Any additional expenses incurred by the client are their responsibility.


5. Passports, Visas, and Travel Documents

Clients are solely responsible for ensuring that passports, visas, vaccinations, health certificates, and other documentation are valid for the countries visited. Karibu Adventure is not responsible for consequences arising from incomplete or invalid documentation.


6. Complaints

  • We strive to ensure your trip runs smoothly.
  • Complaints should be reported at the earliest opportunity.
  • Please note that in adventure travel, some variables may occur, such as:
    • Damaged tents due to wind or rockfall.
    • Delays in arrival, pick-up, or camp setup due to weather or logistics.
    • Vehicle breakdowns during safaris. Alternative arrangements will be made when possible, but no refund will be issued.

7. Baggage

  • All baggage and personal effects are the client’s responsibility. Karibu Adventure is not liable for loss or damage.
  • Clients are allowed one bag (≤15 kg) and a day pack. Excess baggage may be refused.
  • Specific regulations may apply on trekking tours and bush flights.

8. Risk & Liability

  • All tours are adventurous in nature and involve personal risk.
  • Clients accept full responsibility for these risks.
  • Karibu Adventure, its agents, and staff are not liable for injury, death, or property damage.
  • Clients agree to indemnify the company against any claims arising from their actions.

9. Authority on Tour

  • The guide/driver’s decisions are final and binding.
  • Clients must comply with laws, customs, and regulations of all countries visited.
  • Unlawful acts may result in termination from the tour without refund.

10. Marketing

Karibu Adventure may use photographs or videos taken during tours for marketing purposes. Clients give consent for such use, and the company retains copyright.


11. Force Majeure

Karibu Adventure is not responsible for delays, alterations, or cancellations caused by events beyond its control, including but not limited to:

  • Weather conditions
  • Mechanical breakdowns
  • War or civil unrest
  • Pandemics
  • Third-party negligence (hotels, airlines, etc.)

12. Price Changes

  • Prices are based on current national park fees and taxes.
  • Karibu Adventure reserves the right to revise prices due to tax changes, currency fluctuations, or external factors beyond its control.
  • Efforts will be made to maintain current rates whenever possible.

13. Company Rights

Karibu Adventure reserves the right of admission and the authority to enforce all policies to ensure the safety and quality of the tours.
