Yellow Fever

Yellow Fever on Kilimanjaro, All travelers whether foreign nationals, Tanzanian citizens or Residents, MUST enter Tanzania through designated (formal) Entry Points. Upon arrival, the traveler will be responsible for:

  1. Appearing in person in front of an Immigration Officer with a completed and signed arrival declaration card, and
  2. Producing their passport or other acceptable document to an Immigration Officer; and
  3. In the case of foreign nationals; they may be required:
  4. To show their Visa or apply for Visa on arrival;
  5. To show Residence Permit/Pass If they are bonafide Residents in Tanzania;
  6. Return ticket or evidence of onward travel arrangement; and
  7. Evidence of funds for maintenance (upkeep budget

Yellow Fever Entry Requirements In Tanzania Mainland

Yellow fever is a Illness ranges from a fever with aches and pains to severe liver disease with bleeding and yellowing skin (jaundice). Yellow fever infection is diagnosed based on laboratory testing, a person’s symptoms, and travel history.

Yellow fever (YF) is an African mosquito-borne infection of primates. It is caused by a virus of the Flavivirus genus of the Flaviviridae family. In its natural habitat, it is transmitted between monkeys by forest-dwelling primatophilic Aedes mosquitoes.
 
There is low risk of contracting yellow fever in Tanzania. If you are traveling directly from USA and are not transiting through a country with the risk of yellow fever, you do not need the yellow fever vaccination certificate.
 
Yellow fever vaccination certificate required for travellers aged 1 year or over arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission and for travellers having transited for more than 12 hours through an airport of a country with risk of yellow fever transmission.
 
There is no medicine to treat or cure infection. To prevent getting sick from yellow fever, use insect repellent, wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants, and get vaccinated. There is a safe and effective yellow fever vaccine.
The cost of Yellow fever vaccination is 50 USD for foreigners and 30,000 Tsh for residents and East Africa Community members. Government receipt shall be issued for any vaccination charges paid.
 

Note:

Travellers coming from countries which are NOT IN THE LIST ABOVE will not be subjected to Yellow fever screening and vaccination at points of entry upon arrival.

Foreigners coming from Yellow fever endemic countries who will not produce a proof of Yellow fever vaccination may lead to refusal of entry or vaccinated and kept under close public health observation for not more than 10 days.

For TANZANIANS traveling to Yellow fever endemic countries (See list above) ARE RECOMMENDED TO BE VACCINATED 10 days before travel.
For TANZANIANS coming from Yellow fever endemic countries who will not produce a valid certificate of vaccination against Yellow fever will be vaccinated upon arrival and kept under close public health observation for not more than 10 days.
