A 3-day Mount Meru trek is ideal for climbers looking for a shorter adventure or a perfect acclimatization climb before Kilimanjaro.
Day 1: Moshi/Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut
- Morning pickup from Moshi or Arusha
- Drive to Momella Gate (approx. 1.5 hours)
- Registration and briefing
Begin your trek through lush rainforest, where you may see colobus monkeys, giraffes, and antelopes.
- Trekking time: 4–5 hours
- Destination: Miriakamba Hut (2,514m)
Overnight: Miriakamba Hut
Day 2: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut
After breakfast, continue your ascent through moorland and alpine landscapes.
Enjoy breathtaking views of:
- Mount Kilimanjaro
- Meru Crater
- Trekking time: 4–5 hours
- Destination: Saddle Hut (3,500m)
Optional: Short hike to Little Meru (3,800m) for acclimatization.
Overnight: Saddle Hut
Day 3: Summit – Momella Gate
- Early start (around 2:30 AM)
Climb steep ridges and rocky paths to reach the summit at sunrise.
- Summit: Mount Meru Peak (4,566m)
- Incredible views of Kilimanjaro and surrounding landscapes
After summit:
- Descend to Saddle Hut (rest)
- Continue down to Momella Gate
- Total descent: 6–7 hours
Transfer back to Moshi or Arusha.
